Cheap flights to Beijing departing from Tel Aviv arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), located 32 km northeast of Beijing city center. The airport has three terminals. Terminal 1 serves domestic routes of Hainan Airlines and its subsidiaries Terminal 2 serves China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, SkyTeam members and other domestic and international flights. Terminal 3, the newest terminal, serves Air China, Star Alliance and Oneworld members, and some other domestic and international flights which do not operate from either Terminals 1 or 2. If you have booked cheap flights to Beijing operated by EL AL, you will arrive at Terminal 3.

The fastest way to reach the city by public transport is with The Express Railway. It departs every 10 minutes from 6:20 to 22:50 and a single trip costs ¥25.00 (around ‎₪13). You can find the station at Terminal 3 on level F2 of the Parking Garage #3. Several local buses stop at the airport, and you can buy tickets from Gate 7 or Gate No 9, just outside the terminal building. When to go to Beijing?

Summers in Beijing are hot and rainy. Between June and August, the temperatures rise to over 30 degrees and there are 12-14 days of rain per month. Winters are frigid with -7 to -9 degrees in the nights of December to February. The best times to search cheap flights to Beijing are April-May and September-October. You’ll enjoy 20-26 degrees, very few days of rain, and stunning sceneries. Try to avoid visiting during public holidays, when millions of local tourists flood the capital of China.

What to see and do in Beijing?

Go to the Forbidden City. This huge palace complex was built between 1406 and 1420, but was burnt down, rebuilt, and renovated countless times. What you see today is mostly from the 18th century and onwards during the Qing Dynasty. Enter Jingshan Park, climb to get a panoramic view of the Imperial Palace.

Watch the lowering ceremony of the Chinese national flag at sunset and sunrise at Tiananmen Square. Arrive 30 minutes before to get a good seat. A visit to Beijing is not complete before you hike one of the sections of the Great Wall, and it’s great if your vacation in the city is short.

Visit the Olympic sites, watch the Beijing Opera, and take the whole family to the Panda House. The animal houses at the Beijing Zoo spread over 40,000 square meters. There are plenty of museum, local markets, and stunning dining options that will change everything you think that you know about Chinese food.
